Return to Horror High (1987)

I don't think this photo is from the set, but this is pretty much what he looks like before he is killed by the character in the cloak pictured here in the first few minutes of Return to Horror High. And that is probably the most significant thing about this film, besides a goofy performance by Maureen McCormick (Marcia from "The Brady Bunch") who, I have to say, looked gorgeous at 31 despite a lot of unhealthy habits earlier in life. This was part of a six-pack of campy horror movies that also included Sleepaway Camp, so I had high hopes for it but it fails on just about every level. I do have to wonder if Wes Craven borrowed anything from it for Scream (for starters that mask and cloak deal) since it's a self-conscious horror film that satirizes other horror films and the business of making them. But while the format may be somewhat original, it's just not very clever or funny.
