Road to Perdition (2002)

Road to Perdition is a pretty cool movie. I give it high marks for style, action and story. But I wasn't quite convinced by Tom Hanks as the hit man Mike Sullivan. It works fine while he's mowing people down with his machine gun, but when he's lamely trying to relate to his kid and talk to him about his favorite subject in school he just reminds me of Forrest Gump. I didn't care too much for the kid playing his kid either, but Jude Law is great as the sadistic photographer.

I loved this one; I have it in my collection even. I see your point about Hanks, although I thought the complete opposite about how good his acting was. I think the way Hanks portrayed this character worked perfectly for the story. I will give you the bit on the kid though; certainly nothing to write home about there.

I was bordering on 4 stars with this one because I think it's a really solid film. But some dialogue scenes with Hanks just made him seem like a totally different character than the cold-blooded killer of other scenes.
