Wristcutters: A Love Story (2006)

"Everything's the same here, it's just a little worse." Patrick Fugit's character, Zia, says this about the place that is the afterlife for people who kill themselves. It's a place where you still have to "live" and work, eat and sleep, but everything is slightly uncomfortable and everyone is a little pissed off all the time. Fugit (the guy from Almost Famous) is pretty perfect in this role, and Shannyn Sossamon (from The Rules of Attraction, a kick-ass flick by the way) is also great as the hitchhiker who is looking for the "people in charge" because she thinks she ended up there by mistake. This is the funniest indie film I've seen in a long time.
