WALL-E (2008)

WALL-E is a very cool movie. It may be unfair to compare it to Ratatouille, which I felt was a masterpiece, just because they come from the same animation studio, but I wonder if some of the praise that it's receiving from critics is not at least partly due to Pixar's excellent reputation and previous successes. Anyway, the story is a good one and the animation is literally incredible. Sometimes I honestly couldn't tell that WALL-E the robot was animated at all. I was a little disappointed by the fact that so much of the running time is spent showing us how cute robot emotions can be, and I got a little tired of chaotic sequences with hundreds of robots racing around and crashing into each other, but I really enjoyed the film and appreciated its message.

I was highly impressed that the film had me engaged all through the first act when it had no dialogue.
