Reign Over Me (2007)

Certainly, as director Mike Binder suggests, there are people who in a sense have not stopped wandering the streets since they lost loved ones on 9/11. But how many of them need to throw psychotic fits and destroy private property whenever anyone asks them about their dead family members? Maybe if you were a successful dentist whose beautiful wife and three beautiful daughters - who wake you up singing Beatles songs in harmony - all died tragically, it would be enough to make you act like you were a mentally retarded and psychotic five-year-old. But the extreme regression and isolation that Charlie goes through seems a little far-fetched to me. There are some genuinely funny moments in the film and it does have plenty of nice redeeming touches. I just don't feel like it was as moving as it was intended to be.
