The Great Debaters (2007)
On the surface this is an extremely well-made film with some really nice performances. But it's highly predictable and has very few unexpected notes. I have mixed feelings about the decision to swap-out USC for Harvard University in the final debate (even though the USC debaters were the reigning champs at the time). Is USC just not as photogenic as Cambridge? Or does the Academy ignore movies with conclusions that are set at non-Ivy League schools?
